Solid-color epoxy
A solid color epoxy floor is made with high-build solid epoxy and finished with a chemical-resistant topcoat. This type of floor is bright, easy to clean, and quick to line-stripe. It's often used in areas that need to be durable and easy to maintain, such as warehouses and shops. The process typically starts with preparing the concrete slab, which may involve diamond grinding to create a smooth surface. Before applying the epoxy, moisture testing is done to ensure the slab is ready. The epoxy and topcoat are often paired with a polyaspartic topcoat for added durability, making it suitable for back-of-house areas.
What it costs
The cost of a floor coating project varies depending on the size of the area. For a bay shop or commercial space of around 1,500 sq ft, you can expect to pay between $6,550 and $8,050.
For larger areas, such as a 4,000 sq ft shop, the cost ranges from $17,250 to $21,100. Even bigger spaces, like a 10,000 sq ft warehouse shop or commercial area, can cost between $42,900 and $52,450. These prices are based on our price book and may apply to projects involving concrete slab preparation, including diamond grinding, moisture testing, and application of epoxy, polyaspartic, and a topcoat to achieve a solid color epoxy floor.
How long until you can use it
After we apply the floor coating, you'll need to wait a bit before using it. The epoxy and topcoat need time to harden. We do moisture testing before applying the coating to ensure it adheres properly to the concrete slab.
You can allow foot traffic on the floor within 24 hours. For heavier use, like forklifts, you'll need to wait 72 hours. This allows the coating, which may be a solid color epoxy floor with a polyaspartic topcoat, to fully cure after diamond grinding the concrete slab.
